Kids In Control
Kids in Control Therapeutic Martial Arts Program
Our training is foremost about character and personal development. We believe every child can learn and progress. We will work hard during class but we will also have fun. We will individualize therapeutic instruction for each student while maintaining the progress of the whole class.
Kids in Control is not talk therapy. It is an action-based intervention program that stimulates the mind and spirit through the body.
Kids in Control is not physical education. We do not believe that doing physical exercise or playing running games alone will bring about therapeutic change.
Kids in Control is a complete synthesis of the Mind-Body-Spirit philosophy. Here, under the guidance of Sensei Scott Purvis and Dr. Leanna Manuel, Children will learn positive attitudes about life, mental alertness, self-control, respect for themselves and others, and discipline.
Benefits:
- Martial arts teaches respect for others
- Martial arts is one path to self-confidence and self-discipline
- Martial arts teaches focus, concentration, and patience which can be generalized to many other settings
- Martial arts emphasizes setting goals and striving to achieve them
- Martial arts stresses character and positive role-modeling
- Martial arts is an avenue to physical fitness: power, flexibility, stamina and coordination
- Martial arts is a means of self-defense
- Values, not violence; confidence, not conflict
Choices Changes Attitudes Dojo Motto:
To change the world I must first change myself by striving for self-confidence, self-respect, self-control, and self-improvement.
